When it's an emergency
When termite treatment becomes urgent
Once activity is confirmed, the priority shifts from finding the problem to stopping it doing further damage.
Activity confirmed by inspection
A recent inspection identifying active termites is the clearest trigger to move straight into treatment without delay.
Termites actively feeding on visible timber
Seeing termites at work on structural or decorative timber means damage is happening right now, not just at risk of happening.
A nest exposed during renovation
Disturbing an active colony mid-renovation often calls for prompt treatment before work can safely continue.
Follow-up treatment after an inspection
If a recent inspection flagged activity but treatment hasn't started yet, closing that gap quickly matters.
Activity spreading from next door
Confirmed termites in a neighbouring property can be a reasonable trigger to get your own property treated proactively.
Haven't confirmed activity yet?
If you haven't had an inspection yet, our emergency termite inspection page is the right place to start.
Barrier vs. baiting — different approaches:
Barrier vs. baiting — different approaches: A liquid soil barrier (we’re Termidor Accredited Applicators) creates a continuous chemical zone around the structure that termites can’t detect or avoid. A baiting system (we’re Trelona Certified Installers) uses stations that worker termites carry back to the colony, targeting it at the source. Your technician will recommend the right approach — or a combination — based on your property.
Avoid DIY spot-treatment: Spraying visible termites with a household insecticide can cause the colony to “bud” or split into smaller, harder-to-detect groups rather than eliminating the problem, and can also compromise a professional treatment afterwards. It’s best left untouched until a technician arrives.
Before we arrive
What to do while you wait
1
Leave the affected area undisturbed
Avoid poking, spraying or removing anything from the area until the technician has assessed it.
2
Gather any previous inspection reports
These help the technician understand what’s already been identified and plan treatment accordingly.
3
Note the exact location of visible activity
Room, wall, or section of yard — specific details speed up the assessment on arrival.
4
Ensure clear access to the subfloor or perimeter
Barrier treatments often need access around the outside or underneath the property — clearing obstacles helps.
5
Hold off on repairs to damaged timber
Wait until treatment is underway before patching or replacing anything affected.
6
Keep pets away from garden areas near the perimeter
Especially once barrier treatment is scheduled, to keep the treated zone undisturbed.

I was experiencing a rodent infestation in my property, with the constant sound of scratching each night, which created an uncomfortable and unsafe living environment. After conducting some online research, I reached out to Kulwinder from Trident Pest Control. He arrived within an hour, a stark contrast to other companies I had contacted, which were not only more expensive but also had long wait times for appointments. During the inspection, I also discovered what appeared to be insect residue, droppings, and a nest, which I brought to Kulwinder’s attention. He quickly diagnosed the issue and its underlying cause. With the appropriate equipment readily available, I enlisted his services for both rodent and insecticide control. Kulwinder was thorough in explaining the entire process, providing valuable advice on prevention, and addressing all of my questions with patience and professionalism. The entire procedure was completed in approximately one hour. I am thoroughly impressed with the service provided by Trident Pest Control and highly recommend their services for their prompt response, detailed explanations, and reasonable pricing!Posted on Google![]()

FAQs
Emergency termite control questions
A liquid soil barrier creates a continuous treated zone around the structure. A baiting system uses stations that worker termites carry bait back to the colony from, targeting it more directly. We're accredited for both and will recommend the right fit, or a combination, for your property.
This varies depending on the property, the extent of activity, and the treatment method chosen. Your technician will give you a clear timeline as part of the assessment before work starts.
Yes. We use APVMA-approved products and will advise on any precautions or re-entry times specific to the treatment method used on your property.
Details vary by treatment type and property, and your technician will explain what's included as part of your specific quote. We haven't published a fixed guarantee period here, so please ask directly for the most current information.
Both barrier and baiting treatments are designed to address the wider colony, not just visible activity, which is important when termites are already inside wall cavities or other hard-to-reach areas. Your technician will explain the approach for your specific situation.
